Our Commitment to Sustainability

We are so fortunate to be located in Queenstown, arguable one of the most picturesque and pristine locations in New Zealand.

We are very proud to share Queenstown and the surrounding areas of Milford Sound, Te Anau, Wanaka, Arrowtown and Central Otago with our guests.

At Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel we are very committed to run our hotel in a sustainable manner. This makes a contribution to ensuring our beautiful environment is protected.

Tourism Sustainability Commitment

We are supporters of the Tourism Sustainability Commitment which outlines 14 sustainability commitments to follow.

This initiative is organised by our industry body – Tourism Industry Aotearoa and we share in their vision of New Zealand leading the world in sustainable tourism by 2025.

Every day we consider whether all of our business activities are sustainable.
• In the area of cleaning we have moved away from harsh chemicals and are now using more environmentally friendly products.
• Guests are invited to separate their rubbish in their rooms into ‘recyclables’ and ‘other’.
• We have introduced compostable rubbish bags.
• Our breakfast menu engages with local suppliers to ensure the best ingredients are that they are from sustainable sources.

Recently Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel entered onto the list of the ‘Top 100 Sustainable Award’ recipients, for delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualmark New Zealand

We hold a five star grading from our official tourism quality assessment agency, Qualmark New Zealand.  We also hold the Enviro Award Silver level from Qualmark New Zealand.

This means we have been assessed by an external agency showing “a real focus on continuously improving economic, social and environmental performance to ensure the tourism product they deliver is a genuine, constantly improving sustainable experience.”

Support Tiaki Promise

Launched in late 2018 the Tiaki Promise is a nationwide project to highlight that “New Zealand is precious, and everyone who lives and travels here has a responsibility to look after it. The Tiaki Promise is a commitment to care for New Zealand, for now and for future generations”.

We totally agree with the Tiaki Promise and support it entirely.
