Departing from Pahia and arriving at Queenstown for two adventure-filled days, the group were immediately whisked away to activities ranging from jet boating and parasailing to a Lord of the Rings tour with bush trekking and more.  This adventurous group spent one night in central Queenstown at Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel.  Hosting the group for a site inspection and the Hotel’s unqiue pre dinner drinks and canape hour, Hotel GM Karen Henry explains, “the group loved our rooms and I am very optimistic we can establish a niche for this emerging market … however the most fun we had during the visit occurred when wandering past our vegetable garden the group were able to pick and eat their own  strawberries!”

Our Bride Bec made all the dresses herself for the Bridesmaids and Flower Girls -  going so far as also making handbags. We think she did a wonderful job and they all looked lovely.

The Bride looked absolutely stunning and her beautiful gown fitted immaculately. She demonstrated her sense of fun by wearing a dazzling pair of bright orange shoes!

After departing from QPH the wedding party headed to Stoneridge Estate overlooking Lake Hayes for an outdoor wedding ceremony, followed by dinner at Gantleys Restaurant at Arthurs Point.

We’ve asked Peter S, our local jazz enthusiast for his top picks for this year’s Queenstown JazzFest, in case you’re wondering who to see.

Peter’s all-time favourite artist is Geoff Culverwell, playing at Barmuda from 9-11 pm on Friday 19th October. Geoff is one of New Zealand’s most prolific trumpet players, playing sessions from big band lead to pop and jazz recording. He has toured with a host of international acts and has also appeared at venues around the world, including the iconic Ronnie Scott’s in London.

If you’re looking for something edgy and contemporary check out Neo, a group of  musicians representing some of the greatest young talent the South Island has to offer. Neo will be playing at SkyCity Casino, on Friday and Saturday night from 9-11 pm. We’re glad Neo are also playing on Saturday as we’d have a hard time choosing between these two talented acts!

These are both Free events but it might be worth checking with the venues whether they require reservations.

Queenstown JazzFest 2012 runs from Friday 19 – Sunday 21 October, offering 3 days of fantastic music and entertainment in New Zealand’s adventure capital.

From smooth blues to big band swing, dixieland to funk bands, traditional jazz to groundbreaking contemporary concepts, there is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
